The Kennewick Fire Department offers a program in which our staff will come out and replace the batteries in smoke alarms for our senior and disabled citizens in the community each fall; batteries must be provided by the resident. To request this free service, please complete the Request Form.
If you have a smoke alarm that is actively beeping and you need assistance with replacing the batteries, for the quickest response, please call Non-Emergency Dispatch at 509-628-0333.
Smoke Alarm Tips
Most fatal fires occur at night so taking the time to replace the batteries in your smoke alarm is one of the best ways to alert those in your household should a fire occur.
Don’t paint over smoke alarms
Practice family fire drills so everyone knows what to do if the smoke alarm goes off
Regularly vacuum or dust smoke alarms to keep them working properly
Replace batteries in all smoke alarms twice a year (when you change your clocks for daylight savings time)
